Things a good mother doesn't do
I'm not supposed to:
Wear shirts that reveal the fact that I don't wear garments
Have panty lines--another reminder of my lack of proper underwear
Have a drawer full of thongs and underwear prettier than my daughters'
Drink coffee
Or tea
Or anything from a Starbucks cup
Stay home from church
Work on Sunday
Shop on Sunday
Not go to the stupid ward Christmas party
Not have a calling--though it's tough to fulfill a calling when you don't go to church
And that's just the stuff they know about.
Apparently by doing these things I cause my family pain. The fact that I work 50-60 hours a week to support two of them at BYU doesn't count. The cooking, cleaning, driving around, loving them and supporting them in all they do doesn't make up for it. I raised my children to be strong in the church. I am reaping what I sowed. The sad thing is, I'd be just a normal mother in any other culture.

Sounds like you're an amazing mother. And by drinking out of Starbucks cups and skipping the ward Christmas party (gag) you're showing your kids what "normal" is.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Donna... You're not a good Mom.
ReplyDeleteYou're a GREAT mom!
You should be hanging your head in shame...
ReplyDelete...if you drink ANYTHING but coffee from a starbucks cup.
Sorry that you seem to be having a crappy day. Maybe you should put on a thong and dance around.
Awww, you guys are too nice. And Tex, I'm really not having a bad day, just a normal day. Of course, I didn't get my Starbucks this morning so maybe it is a bad day. And my thongs are all in the wash. Maybe I'll try going commando. Seems to work for you!
ReplyDeleteWhen I read your list I wished you were my mom. Although I'm probably older than you are. But, you know.
